At British Power International we have a long tradition of providing expertise in energy to governments, not-for-profit agencies, regulatory authorities and private companies.
Our distinctive capability is in the technical, commercial and strategic aspects of the production, supply and distribution of power. Our expertise is in energy; our work is focussed on power; our reach is worldwide. Based in the UK, we operate in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
Our history spans some thirty years. Formed in 1979 as British Electricity International, we were the international arm of the UK's electricity industry, exporting technical and commercial expertise worldwide. Following the privatisation of the electricity industry, ownership passed to a successor company and from 1996 (renamed as British Power International) we became part of Eastern Group, one of the UK's leading power companies. Through this we added new and increasingly relevant capabilities associated with operating in liberalised markets - expertise in regulation and power trading and experience of working in gas.
In 1999 we became an independent consultancy practice, and as British Power International Limited, we operate in the UK and internationally. From small beginnings, we have grown to a USD10m business. Our staff of 80, plus a team of associates, is diverse but integrated by a shared background in, and commitment to, the energy sector.
In 2008 we became one of the Freedom Group of companies, originally part of the Spice Group, now EnServe. As part of a large and growing provider of outsourced infrastructure support services to the utility sector, we can draw upon a greater breadth of expertise in utility management.
