With a BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, on graduation Mustafa worked as a project engineer for four years with the Iraqi Ministry of Energy and then WSI. With excellent language skills, Mustafa has supported our UK and international work in a variety of capacities. </p> <p><b>Ged Barrett</b> <br /> Ged manages BPI&#8217;s offices in Warrington and Birmingham, where work for three electricity distribution network operators is handled, typically new connections, diversions, network studies and loss reduction work at voltages up to and including 33kV. Ged joined BPI in 2005 from BAe Systems where he was an 'Electrical and Electronics Technician Trainer' in Saudi Arabia and a  Training Officer in the UK, following an earlier career in the RAF as a Manager. With BPI Ged has also worked internationally, on power system power planning in Nepal and network loss reduction studies in India, both as part of programmes BPI has delivered for the Asian Development Bank. </p> <p><b>Hillol Biswas</b> <br /> Hillol joined BPI early in 2008 from the Indian consultancy group WAPCOS Limited. A professional graduate civil engineer, Hillol is an expert in the technical specification, design, project planning and construction of overhead lines from 66 kV to 400 kV.He has worked on transmission line designing including developing/setting design parameters depending on type of terrain, climatic data and location of towers; analysing the structural/mechanical stability of the transmission lines; and practicing optimisation techniques for cost-effective construction and maintenance. With over fifteen years of power engineering practice to draw on, his experience of planning, design and construction major transmission lines was gained in India and applied in Bhutan, Afghanistan, the Sudan and UK. </p> <p><b>John Cunningham</b><br /> A qualified and experienced power engineer, John is BPI s leading expert on energy metering. After qualification and gaining experience as a power engineer, John specialised in metering, being responsible for both policy (standards and systems) and delivery (installation, commissioning and maintenance) at a UK electricity company. Following market liberalisation, as adviser to the UK s pooling and settlements agency, John managed the introduction of metering and the associated hardware and software for the then new electricity trading arrangements. John has been with BPI since 2005 and is currently dividing his time between assignments in Kuwait, Bahrain and the UK. </p> <p><b>Tony Evans</b> <br /> Tony joined BPI from Eastern Group plc as a principal consultant, with a focus on energy policy, regulation and the way in which energy companies interface with their customers. He has worked for over twenty five years in energy. Tony was head of Energy Policy at the Confederation of British Industry (the UK&#8217;s leading employers&#8217; organisation), worked as an adviser and manager in regulation for an energy utility in the years following privatisation and is an experienced project manager. Since joining BPI he has led, or contributed as an expert adviser, to power sector projects in Kuwait, Nigeria, the Philippines, UK and Turkey. Tony has a degree in energy studies and is a Prince 2 accredited project manager. </p> <p><b>Simon Faiers</b> <br /> Since 1999 Simon has been BPI&#8217;s adviser on human resources, organisation and governance, working on assignments in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Europe. Prior to this, he was Head of Human Resources at the energy company Eastern Group plc. <br /> In addition to his work at BPI, Simon is a part time lecturer in human resources at University Campus Suffolk; a member of the K&#8217;s Central Arbitration Committee; an independent public appointments assessor (accredited by the UK&#8217;s Commissioner for Public Appointments); and an adviser on employment matters to British Transport Police. Educated at the University of Newcastle and Warwick University Business School, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. </p> <p><b>Richard (Dick) Finbow</b> <br /> Dick is a qualified design engineer and experienced project manager with an all round and in depth knowledge of high voltage power systems. <br /> As an engineer and manager, Dick was responsible for the development and design of the 132kV system for the UK's largest electricity distributor. With BPI he led a design and project management team supporting one of our major UK clients on the re-development, modification and refurbishment their transmission and HV network. Dick has also worked internationally, having completed a major project in the middle east for power plant, substations and transmission lines, involving tender preparation and evaluation for construction projects and project management. Dick plays a key mentoring role to BPI&#8217;s younger engineers, encouraging the development of their technical know-how and professional knowledge. </p> <p><b>Richard Newman</b><br /> Following an early career as an electrical engineer with the MoD, Alstom Gas Turbines and Rolls Royce, Richard joined BPI in 2004. A chartered engineer, he has a first degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, masters degree in Electrical Power Systems, is a member of the IET and a Prince2 qualified project manager. His work at BPI focuses on the specification and design of HV and LV distribution systems, and assets and he has worked on infrastructure projects for a range of clients. In addition to his day to day work, Richard acts as a mentor to BPI&#8217;s cadre of younger, graduate engineers and teaches at Colchester Institute. </p> <p><b>Suresh Ramamurthy</b><br /> Suresh is an experienced electrical engineer, with in depth expertise in power system protection. Since graduating he has worked in a variety of electrical engineering and project management roles in a number of leading equipment manufacturers and suppliers, including Siemens, GE Power, L&amp;T, Kirloskar Electric, Easun Reyrolle. Suresh joined BPI in 2008 and has engineered major protection schemes for TenneT in the Netherlands and EDF in the UK. </p> <p><b>Geoff Stott</b><br /> One of BPI&#8217;s most experienced consultants, Geoff&#8217;s career has been in the power sector as a transmission and distribution engineer, then manager. In addition, he has had periods as a quality manager, trainer and consultant. <br /> As power sector manager until 1995, Geoff had responsibility for a network supplying 600,000 customers in an area of 2000 square miles, with budgetary responsibility of approximately USD100M.&nbsp; Following a spell as Quality Development Manager with TXU from 1995 &#8211; 2000 supporting the company&#8217;s Generation Division and delivery of company wide training in quality processes, Geoff joined BPI. Geoff has led or contributed to a very diverse range of projects as a BPI consultant &#8211; from power system planning in Nepal, setting up management contracts for the outsourcing of engineering functions in Nigeria, to technical auditing for the UK&#8217;s regulator, Ofgem.<br /> A chartered engineer, Geoff has first and masters degrees in engineering science, is a fellow of two engineering professional institutions and a chartered manager. </p> <p><b>Ron Webb</b><br /> Ron is BPI&#8217;s lead expert on health and safety management and training.<br /> An experienced electrical engineer with over 30 years in the power sector, Ron has been responsible for design, review and installation projects on electricity networks. He has developed safety rules and operational procedures for distribution and transmission systems, and generating plant. With Eastern Electricity and then Eastern Group plc, he was responsible for operational and technical training at voltages up to and including 132kV (from the assessment of need, through the planning, development and delivery of programmes, to carrying out individual competency assessments). In recognition of his safety and engineering expertise, Ron has regularly been a member of investigating panels into plant failures and accidents.
